XZ Utils

XZ Utils Description
xz is a lossless compression program and file format which incorporates the LZMA/LZMA2 compression algorithms.
These are the same compression formats used by the 7-Zip program and its command-line version p7zip. However, .xz has a different file format, which is not compatible with the .7z format used by 7-Zip; notably, xz compresses a bytestream and in itself has no knowledge of files or much of their metadata (for that, a multi-file container like .tar/.cpio will have to be used), while the multi-file aware .7z lacks support for Unix-like file system metadata.
A list below shows XZ Utils alternatives which were either selected by us or voted for by users. You can filter this list by tags and platforms

Latest version of XZ Utils is 5.2.3 and it was released on 2016-12-30.
